The president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Supo Ayokunle, has opined that the federal government has run out of workable ideas on how to end insecurity in the country.

Ayokunle stated that what the government can give Nigerians, for now, are mere assurance and promise.

Ayokunle made this comment on Sunday, March 28, during a thanksgiving service (monitored by Punch) in honour of Bishop Wale Oke, the newly elected president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).

According to Ayokunle, the former Nigerian leader said only God can bear human burdens and solve problems that seem impossible for men.

Encouraging Oke on his new appointment, Ayokunle said:

"When I was elected the President of Baptist, I went to Baba Obasanjo. He said, ‘My President, I hope you have not come here to ask me to carry your burden'.
"Everybody will bear his burden. All of us here can only share the burden by praying with you. He said the problem that you may face don’t take it to Obasanjo but to God. He is the burden bearer."
