Great News as FG Reveals Plan to Weed out Rotten Eggs in Nigeria Police Force

The speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has said that Nigerians need a police force they can trust at a time when insecurity is on the increase.
Gbajabiamila on Thursday, March 25, noted that in light of such a crying need, the government will begin a weeding process in the force so as to get rid of what he described as bad eggs, The Nation reports.
He made this known while convening a public hearing on a bill to repeal and re-enact the Police Service Commission (PSC) bill.

Punch reports that the hearing was attended by Mohammed Dingyadi, the minister of police affairs, the PSC's boss, DIG Musiliu Smith, and Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.
Gbajabiamila, however, stated that for the most part, Nigerian police officers are actually gentlemen.
He added that one of the primary goals of the ninth National Assembly is to sanitise the force to a point of regaining the confidence of citizens.

Gbajabiamila stated:
“We will do all within our legislative powers to ensure that we have a police force that is trusted by Nigerians.
“We will be judged by that. That is why we need to address the issue of recruitment into the force as well as training of the personnel and the aim of this gathering is to allow for public scrutiny.”
Meanwhile, Adamu had said that the youths who participated in the recent #EndSARS protest wanted to join the police.
He said:
“The youths who participated in the #EndSARS and the rest of them, many of them want to join the police. Many of them will come and say, ‘Please, we want to join the police,’ because the service the police provide is a service of God.”
