Comoros made history after qualifying for the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations staging in Cameroon next year.

The East African country booked its spot in the continental championship earlier this week after playing a 0-0 draw with Kenya at the Stade Omnisports de Malouzini.

As it stands, they are second on the log with nine points after five games - the same as Egypt who are the most successful nation in the history of the tournament with seven titles.

Other countries that have already booked their spots at the next edition of the championship are host country Cameroon, defending champions Algeria, Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Gambia, Morocco, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Senegal, Congo, Tunisia, and Equatorial Guinea.

Meanwhile, South Africa will need at least a draw against Sudan before they can participate in the 33rd edition of the competition staging in Cameroon next year.

Comoros started their campaign with a 1-0 win over Togo away from home after which they forced Egypt to a goalless draw in front of their fans.

They went to Kenya to play a 0-0 draw and came back to their backyard and defeated the Harambee Stars 2-1 in the second leg of their encounter before sealing their qualification with another draw against Togo on Thursday, March 25.
