2023: APC releases new verdict, says PDP's plan to win presidency a mirage
- The APC has declared that it would govern Nigeria beyond 2023

- Governor Badaru of Jigawa state, however, said President Buhari would hand over power to another APC president in 2023

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has told the main opposition party in the country, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to jettison its plan to take over Aso Rock in 2023.
The Nation reports that the statement was made on Thursday, March 25, by the Jigawa state governor and chairman of the APC strategy and contact committee, Badaru Abubakar.
Legi.ng reports that the governor assured more people would leave the PDP to join the APC as soon as possible.
Speaking on Channels TV's programme Politics Today, Badaru said that the fact that Gbenga Daniel, the former director-general of the presidential campaign of the ex-vice president Atiku Abubakar, dumped PDP and joined APC is an indication that Nigerians want the party to remain in power beyond 2023.

He said:
“I don’t see the gearing up of PDP to take power, even last week we had the former governor of Ogun state Gbenga Daniel who happens to be the DG Campaign for Atiku in the 2019 elections that joined us.
“People are leaving PDP to join the APC. The honesty and sincerity of purpose will help us retain power in 2023.”
Badaru, however, declined to comment on whether power should shift to the south in 2023.
He added:
“I am in the strategy committee that will look into this issue, at this point if you have asked me about this one month ago; I would have told you my position.
“As the chairman of the strategy committee I cannot say my own personal view…I don’t want to preempt what will come from the committee."
The APC chieftain also noted that President Muhammadu Buhari is the best thing that has happened to Nigeria since independence as a leader. He, however, agreed that the country is facing some challenges.
Badaru noted that Buhari provided bailouts to all the states with 18-month support to pay salaries and ensured payment of Paris-club money for infrastructure.
He also stated that the herders-farmers clashes persisted because of the neglect of the past governments, adding that banditry and kidnapping did not start with Buhari’s administration.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the Arewa Mandate Initiative (AMI) tipped the national leader of the ruling APC and a former governor of Rivers states, Rotimi Amaechi as potential successors of President Buhari in 2023.
It was reported that the group said the endorsement was in line with the gentleman agreement reached by the leaders of the party at the formative stage in 2015.
