Former Super Eagles defender Udeze has told current gaffer Gernot Rohr to allow Kelechi Iheanacho to lead the team's attack in the coming AFCON 2022 qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho.

Nigeria who are three-time African champions are currently in top gear in their preparation for the two games ahead of them in which one will be played in Porto Novo while the other in Lagos.

Presently at the Super Eagles camp, Gernot Rohr will have to pick from the likes of Victor Osimhen, Anayo, Paul Onuachu, Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho for his attack.

These strikers have been so impressive for their clubs so far this season which is the main reason for their invitation into the Super Eagles.

According to the report on Complete Sports, Udeze explained that super Kelechi Iheanacho deserve to lead the attack for the Super Eagles considering his goal-scoring form for Leicester City.

“I think Iheanacho should lead the team in our next two games because he has been playing and scoring for his club side lately, and I believe he will score again for us.''

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Genk striker Paul Onuachu rubbished reports that he was livid after being put on Super Eagles standby list by coach Gernot Rohr for the games against Lesotho and Benin Republic.

Despite netting 27 goals in all competitions so far this season for his Belgian club, Paul Onuachu was not selected in the first list made by Super Eagles coach Rohr.

His exclusion caused reactions among football lovers with many asking Gernot Rohr the rationale that made him pick Ahmed Musa over Onuachu.

Gernot Rohr was attacked by fans who claimed that Ahmed Musa should have been the one on the standby list and not Paul Onuachu.

But after Almeria striker Sadiq Umar pulled out of the AFCON qualifiers, Gernot Rohr replaced him with Paul Onuachu.
