Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu welcomed Super Eagles players, as well as the Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick to the Lagos House, Marina on Wednesday night, March 24.

The Nigerian national football team are camped in the state ahead of their AFCON 2021 qualifying showdown against Benin and Lesotho.

Gernot Rohr and his boys will file out against the Squirrels of Benin in Porto Novo on Saturday, March 27 and then return to Lagos where they will face Lesotho at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on March 30.

With barely three days to the showdown in Benin Republic, the Chief Press Secretary to the Lagos state governor Gboyega Akosile disclosed that Governor Sanwo-Olu welcomed the team to the State House in Marina. The statement said:

"Lagos State Governor Jide Sanwo-Olu has just received the Super Eagles players and the NFF chairman Amaju Pinnick at the Lagos House, Marina for an evening with Mr. Governor ahead of their encounter this weekend."

Footage showed NFF president Pinnick introducing the players and technical crew to the governor and other dignitaries.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian team will, on Friday, travel by waterways to Porto Novo for their coming game against Benin Republic.

Gernot Rohr and his players have intensified training at the Teslim Balogun stadium in Lagos ahead of the two big encounters they have this month.

According to the information provided by respected sports reporter Godwin Enakhena, the Nigerian Football Federation has concluded all arrangements for the to travel on water.

The Super Eagles will spend the night in Cotonou on Friday, March 26, and they will return to Porto Novo on Saturday for the battle against the host nation.

The team will then return to Lagos on Sunday where they will start another preparation for their game against Lesotho scheduled for Tuesday.

Kelechi who is becoming famous for his ‘Senior man Kelz’ nickname arrived Lagos three days after firing Leicester City into the semi-final of the English FA Cup.

After scoring five goals in his last two games at club level, fans have tipped the Leicester City star to wreck Benin in Porto Novo and then sink Lesotho in Lagos.
