So far, the six-time Ballon d'Or winner has scored 29 times and registered 13 assists in 37 appearances for Barcelona this season. The 21-year-old Spaniard told El Larguero according to Sport Bible:

"Nobody can complain about everything Messi has given us [at Barcelona]. He has to look after himself and no-one else."

Want-away Man City defender Eric Garcia described Messi as the "best player in the world" and admitted that it would be "special for anyone [to play alongside him]."

The 2014 World Cup finalist almost walked out of the club last summer after his relationship with the former board deteriorated.

Meanwhile, Joan Laporta after his win over Victor Font and Toni Freixa in the Barcelona presidential election earlier this month vowed to do everything in his power to convince Messi to sign a new Barca deal. He said:

"I take the opportunity to say again that I will try to convince Leo to stay with us. That is a must-do task, I will do all I can. He knows it.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Lionel Messi is unarguably one of the greatest football stars in history owing to his achievements on the pitch.

This has led the Barcelona legend to win both collective and individual silverware that sets him above his peers.

Much more than the awards are the impressions he has created in the minds of the olds and the younger ones.
