In his opinion backed up by recent, personal experiences, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue believes the much-talked-about 2023 general elections may never happen.

Ortom said this will become the reality in 2023 if nothing is done now by the federal government about the menace of insecurity, Channels TV reports.

He said that things are now so bad that even a sitting governor surrounded by armed security agents cannot go to his own farm.

“I appreciate the security personnel attached to me they were able to repel them and they could not have access to me.”

Moreover, Ortom said he will file a suit against the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) for allegedly attacking him.

His words:

“My lawyer is going to make a petition against the leadership of MACBAN because they came out to target me and behind the scene, they are planning to eliminate me on my own land."

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari, after his closed-door talk with the Benue governor, convened a meeting with the chief of defence staff, Major-General Lucky E.O Irabor and the minister of defence, Bashir Salihi Magashi.

Although details of the meeting are not out in the public domain, a presidential media aide, Femi Adesina, shared photos that captured moments the president engaged Irabor and Magashi in a security-related discussion.

There are reasons to believe that top on the meeting's agenda is a review of the suggestions made to the president by Ortom.
