Similarly, The Punch reports that Nigeria's Senate President Ahmad Lawan as well as other education and labour stakeholders reacted to the discrimination against graduates of polytechnics.

Lawan described the discrimination as undesirable, saying the HND/degree dichotomy has really affected a significant number of people.

The public hearing was chaired by Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita and organised by the Senate Committee on tertiary institutions and TETFUND.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that following the reported discrimination over their degree certificates in the workplace, a coalition of holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) threatened to embark on an industrial action if the issue is not addressed by the government.

The group asked the government to implement a white paper detailing the removal of dichotomy on their career progression in public service.

Chris Isiquzo Ikechukwu, president of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) told a press briefing in Abuja that the coalition decided not to remain silent about the issue anymore.
