Cross River state government has promised not to respond to the outburst of Governor Nyesom Wike against Ben Ayade.

This was disclosed by the special adviser, media and publicity to the governor of Cross River state, Christian Ita, Punch Newspaper reports.

The issue started when the Cross River governor raised allegations of injustice on the part of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during a visit by the governor of Bauchi state, Bala Mohammed.

In his reaction, Ayade said:

“We are not responding to Wike’s outburst. We don’t have any altercation. We never mentioned Wike. We have nothing to say to him. Bala Mohammed came and the governor lamented the ill-treatment he is getting in the PDP and there was no where he mentioned Wike or made reference to Wike. We don’t know where the outburst is coming from; so, we are not responding.”

Punch Newspaper had reported that Ayade had said during Mohammed’s visit:

“Now, let me say this as a very clear warning. I am a very smart person but I carry humility. One single injustice and they (PDP) will see a new Cross River state."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that ahead of the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria, fireworks are beginning to spark up among powerful politicians in various political parties.

For Governor Nyesom Wike, only those who will run for the presidential seat under the PDP will get his support and that of his allies.

The Rivers governor said he will not hesitate to withdraw his backing from anyone who abandons the PDP, including Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, a former president.

In another development, the committee set up by the PDP to reconcile aggrieved party members reportedly came up with the strategy to carry out the assignment.
