Is Nigeria Really Making Progress under Buhari? At last, Presidency Opens up, Releases Crucial Video

- President Muhammadu Buhari has been given a pass mark by the presidency in the anti-graft war

- A presidential media aide, Lauretta Onochie, claimed that Nigeria under Buhari has witnessed some successes in the all-important struggle

- Onochie, however, said personal change can't be achieved through a democratic government

The presidency, for the umpteenth time, has rated the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration high, amid outcries and agitation among Nigerians against the current state of the nation.

On her Twitter page on Monday, March 22, a presidential media aide, Lauretta Onochie, explained that Nigeria under the present government has been able to deal with crimes related to financial corruption and indiscipline among public officials.

However, Onochie admitted that on a personal basis, it will take another system of government other than democracy to radically flush out bad habits in some citizens.

She shared a 1983 video (when Buhari was a military head of state) that seemed to attempt a contrast between the federal government's success in the anti-corruption war and the present reality.

Her tweet:

"Nigeria in 1983: Fraud, indiscipline, corruption, squander-mania, misuse and abuse of public office for group and personal gains.
"Has Nigeria changed much? We are making progress
"To properly deal with our individual bad habits require ruthlessness which is not possible in a democracy."

Meanwhile, a former Kogi central senator, Dino Melaye, accused the President Buhari-led administration of many abnormalities.

According to the outspoken politician, there was no longer governance in the Nigerian government. Melaye disclosed this on his Twitter handle on Thursday, March 18.

"There is no longer governance in Government in Nigeria. Insecurity, Corruption, inetitude, Nepotism and Mal-administration is the Hallmark of the Buhari Administration.
