Gunmen Attack Southeast State 3 Policemen, 3 Naval Officers Feared Dead

- Unknown gunmen have reportedly unleashed terror in different locations across Anambra state

- The attacks allegedly led to the death of no fewer than 3 policemen and three Naval officers

- The unfortunate incident took place in Anaocha and Oyi LGAs on Thursday, March 18

A report by The Nation indicates that 3 Naval officers, as well as three policemen, were reportedly killed in Anambra state by unknown gunmen almost simultaneously around 5 pm.

According to the report, the police officers were attacked on Thursday, March 18, at Neni junction in Anaocha local government area of the state.

It was gathered that the assailants also burned the security vehicle belonging to the policemen.

The gunmen allegedly killed the Naval officers at Awkuzu in Oyi local government area.

One of the senior police officers in the command who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed the incidents.

In another report by Daily Trust citing a source who pleaded anonymity, noted that the gunmen attacked the officers at Awkuzu junction. They killed three officials on the spot before carting away with their firearms.

The source speaking further explained that four naval officers were on duty at the junction when the assailants struck around 2 pm.

Though DSP Tochukwu Ikenganyia, the new Anambra police spokesman who assumed duty on Wednesday, March 17, confirmed the incident, he, however, said he had no details.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that many have been feared killed as soldiers engaged in a shootout with armed bandits in Kabasa village of Magami District in Gusau local government area of Zamfara state.

At least three soldiers and seven other persons were killed during the violence. Residents were reported to have said that the armed men arrived at the community on motorcycles firing at people.
