Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo who is being rumoured to leave the Italian club is more likely to return to Manchester United instead of Real Madrid according to reports.

Italian outlet Tuttosport via Daily Mail are claiming that the Los Blancos are more interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe to lead their attack.

Ronaldo was heavily criticised following Juve’s Champions League early exit; with Italian media claiming the 36-year-old betrayed his teammates.

Confusion set in as regards his future as some believe he may be kicked out of the Turin club despite having one more year on his contract.

He however returned with a hat-trick against Cagliari in the Serie A and Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici stated that they are delighted to have him.

But latest reports have it that with Madrid interested in Mbappe, Manchester United have a better chance of signing the striker.

But even if a move to Old Trafford is more likely than a return to the Bernabeu, United are set to look to other targets as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continues to rebuild his team back to a title-challenging force.

Their transfer strategy has tended to focus on younger players who fit Solskjaer's counter-attacking style of play, rather than established stars.

And Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has urged his former club to do all they can to sign either Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland this summer.

The retired centre-back suggested that the move will help the Red Devils capitalise on the improvement under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season.

Rio added that landing any of the two players will make United serious title contenders in the coming seasons.

The former England international also added that the Old Trafford outfit must bring another central defender in time for next term.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Rio Ferdinand has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo is such a player who doesn't take anything personal.

The 42-year-old former defender shared the same dressing room with the Portugal international for six years (2003-2009) and they achieved so much under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ronaldo moved to the Santiago Bernabeu in the then world-record fee worth £80 million to represent Real Madrid - a relationship that lasted nine years with so many trophies involved.
