Ahead of the 2023 general poll, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been urged to join the race for the presidential election in the interest of the country and its democracy.

The Guardian reports that youths under the aegis of Nigeria Youths Movement for Tinubu (NYMT), made the urgent appeal on Thursday, March 11.

According to the youths, the All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader is the best person to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari given his track record of achievements, both in public service and private sector.

Mukhtar Hussein Mukhtar, the director-general of the group said the former Lagos state governor the democracy Nigeria is enjoying today is a result of Tinubu's huge sacrifices.

Speaking further in a statement, Mukhtar noted that the support for Tinubu was borne out of genuine concern for the future and development of the nation.

He also said the APC national leader possesses the attributes to turn the fortunes of the nation around, using the success story of Lagos state as a pointer to what Nigeria would become if Tinubu is elected.

2023 presidency: APC's likely candidate emerges

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the APC national leader on Wednesday, March 10, got the support of Igbos in Lagos to run for the 2023 presidential election.

During a visit to the former chairman of Amuwo Odofin local government, Comrade Ayodele Adewale, the delegates of the Igbo-speaking community in the state expressed their readiness to give Tinubu the needed backing to get the APC's ticket and become Nigeria's president.

The delegates referred to Tinubu as a detribalised leader who has the innate potential to foster unity in the country.
