Pregnancy is no doubt a journey that treats different women differently and talented singer, Simi, has shared her experience on what it was like being heavy with a child and still making music.

While speaking with Joey Akan on Afrobeats Intelligence, the new mum said that it was quite hard for her to make music, especially during her first trimester.

The Duduke crooner said that her first trimester was very difficult because she dealt with serious morning sickness and was also greatly uninspired.

In her words:

“It was actually really hard because my first trimester was really difficult. I had pretty bad morning sickness and I was throwing up a lot. That was not the worst. The worst part for me is that I was very very uninspired”.

Speaking further, the 32-year-old singer admitted that music was not one of her favourite things during pregnancy and that she could not record because she didn’t have the energy.

However, Simi had a strong partner in her husband, Adekunle Gold, as she revealed that he tried to help her out of her blues by bringing a mini-studio that she could work with at home. She also admitted that she recorded two versions of her popular Duduke track.

In her words:

“Because of the way I feel about music, I’m obsessed. So when I’m not able to record or sing, people around me are worried. So he was really worried. He was like ‘babe, how about just try. Okay just try and record something.’
“And I’d just record maybe like 20 minutes in the day just at least to do something. And when I started to record, I recorded ‘Duduke’ when I was pregnant too. I actually wrote two different versions of the song.”

Simi who recently stated that she would beat up any child that bullies her baby, Deja, in school, donned a black off-shoulder top, paired with brown pants.
