Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe has smashed Lionel Messi’s record to become the youngest player to score 25 goals in the Champions League.

The Frenchman scored from the penalty spot against Barcelona in their round of 16 second leg, having netted a hat-trick back in Barcelona in their first meeting.

He broke Lionel Messi's record for youngest player to hit the quarter-century mark for goals in Europe's elite competition.

The Barcelona captain reached the landmark over 11 years ago at the age of 22 years and 286 days.

But Mbappe beat him by the better part of a year, bringing up the magic 25-mark aged 22 years and 80 days.

Mbappe beat Raul (23y 252d), Karim Benzema (24y 99d) and Thierry Henry (25y 102d) by a matter of years rather just merely months.

Also, Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland set new Champions league record following his brace in their 2-2 draw with Spanish side Sevilla.

The 20-year-old is now the quickest a player has ever reached 20 goals in the competition, and in 10 fewer appearances than the previous record holder Harry Kane.

Former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nisteltooy grabbed his 20th Champions League goal in his 27th appearance while Filipo Inzaghi reached such feat after 28 games.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the Italian press is upset with Cristiano Ronaldo saying he betrayed his teammates following his performance that saw Juventus get knocked out of the Champions League by FC Porto.

Ronaldo is being blamed from left, right and centre for jumping in a ‘wall’ which allowed Sergio Oliviera grabbed his second goal for Porto from a 30-yard freekick.

Porto proceeded to the quarter-final of the competition following the away goals’ rule after it had ended 4-4 on aggregates.
