Nigerian lady develops app that helps orphans, less privileged to report cases of sexual abuse

Motivated by the desire to fight the growing trend of underreported gender-violence, A Nigerian woman, Saadat Aliyu, has launched an android app that helps victims to report cases of sexual abuses.

The app, "Helpio App", was launched in 2020 on the play store, a Google-owned apps platform for android user.

According to Aliyu who is the founder of Shamrock Innovations, Women and Youth-Centric Tech Innovation Hub situated in Kano state, northern Nigeria, the app will help orphans and the less-privileged people to fight sexual abuse, Channels TV reports.

Speaking on Monday, March 8, the self-taught developer disclosed that her love for IT skills started when she was in junior secondary school.

Meanwhile, a young man, Victor Nwobi, has invented a hand-free hand-washing device from the scratch with all the materials used for the device locally sourced.

According to him, the drive behind the innovation is because he wanted to contribute his artistry towards curtailing the menace of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic which is responsible for the death of over 2.5 million people according to Worldometers.

Speaking with Legit.ng on the device which he named "washman soap and water dispenser'', the young genius disclosed that he began the making of the device in 2020 when the coronavirus hit the world.
