Lady leaves US after 13 years just to collect waste plastic materials in Nigeria

Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola took a decision many will consider awkward by quitting her stay in the United States after 13 whole years.

The graduate of the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, told vlogger Wode Maya in an interview described what she did as really a crazy experience.

Bilikiss said she identified waste as a problem in Africa and was inspired to solving it as those that usually come into the country to proffer solutions to this phenomena problem are non-Africans.

She also revealed that started the Wecyclers company in August 2012.

Bilikiss, along with her brother Olawale Adebiyi who she 'dragged' from America to join her in the business, had started with collecting plastic waste on the streets of Lagos but now run one of the fastest-growing waste companies in West Africa.

Consequently, they offer cash in exchange for plastic and paper waste which is then recycled. With this innovation, they've succeeded in turning wastes that ordinarily lie in drainages, waterways and landfills into money-spinners.

Today, they have an army of plastic waste volunteers and are still breaking new grounds as far as waste management and recycling are concerned.
