Buhari, Osinbajo take COVID-19 vaccine, presidency shares photos

President Muhammadu Buhari has finally taken the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. The president was vaccinated on Saturday, March 6, by his personal physician.

Shortly after the president's vaccination, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo also took the vaccine which was equally administered by his personal physician.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the federal government flagged-off the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination exercise at the National Hospital, Abuja on Friday, March 5.

The exercise commenced after the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman, Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, officially declared the event open.

The vaccine had already undergone a final assessment by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control.

Meanwhile, Dr Ngong Cyprian of the National Hospital, Abuja, has become the first person and first healthcare worker to be given the COVID-19 vaccine in Nigeria.

He received the jab during the launching ceremony of the COVID-19 vaccination exercise on Friday, March 5, at the National Hospital, Abuja.

Dr Faisal Shuaib, the executive director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) administered the vaccine to Dr Cyprian.

In another related report, Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello, has said he won’t receive the COVID-19 vaccine because he does not need it.

The Kogi state governor made the statement when he spoke on Channels Television's Politics Today’ programme.

He argued that he does not have any medical condition that requires him to take the vaccine.
