Ahead of the March 27 AFCON qualifying showdown against the Squirrels of Benin Republic, the president of the Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick says Eagles might travel by boat.

Pinnick stated that the performance of the team will not be affected whichever way they travel for the crunch encounter.

He said this during an interview with Arise TV’s Morning Show News via Complete Sports that there is nothing wrong with going to the neighbouring country via the waters.

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr earlier hinted that the team might need to cross the border by boat in their bid to avoid bad roads linking both countries.

This was corroborated by Pinnick who welcomed the exploration of other forms of transportation, adding that he has personally been to Cotonou by boat on several occasions.

He told Arise News:

“Going to Cotonou by boat, I do that all the time. When we were going to inspect we did it. There is nothing wrong with exploring other forms of adventure in Nigeria.
“What’s the big deal, look at the Lagos state boat terminal, it’s one of the best in the world I have seen, so why don’t we use all those things if we have them.
“So it’s just a projection and it does not mean we have agreed on it. We might either go by road if our security report, we have the intelligence, we are also working with the Lagos state government to explore to see what is best suited for that.
“And once we say we are going by the creeks to Cotonou, of course, we will provide every requisite, we will provide the enabling environment for them to go in terms of security.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho was the hero for Leicester City after scoring to help them stalemate Burnley at Turf Moor on Wednesday, March 3.

The 24-year-old forward fired home an unstoppable volley into Nick Pope's net in the 34th minute to seal as the two sides played a 1-1 draw at the end of the encounter.

Iheanacho made a run towards The Clarets' 18-yeard box after spotting his countryman Wilfred Ndidi looking to send in a long ball from his half before powering a low but sumptuous shot into the bottom right corner of the post with his left foot.
