Former Nigeria internationals Duke Udi and Tarila Okorowanta have told Gernot Rohr to leave Ahmed Musa out from the list of players he will invite for the AFCON 2021 qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho later this month.

The winger has been without a club since he parted ways with Saudi Arabia's top side Al Nassr last October in search of a more competitive league in Europe.

He came close to joining West Bromwich Albion during the winter transfer window earlier this year but the deal failed to pull through eventually.

The retired football stars insisted that the invitation of players must be based on current form and Musa cannot boast of this since he has not played professionally in five months.

Although the ex-Leicester City man has been keeping fit by going to gyms and joining friends to stretch his muscles, that is definitely not enough for games needed to seal qualification for the continental championship.

According to Complete Sports quoting Brila.net, Duke Udi said players who will prosecute these two matches must be in excellent form.

‘We are inviting players now on current form."

On the other hand, Okorowanta urged the German tactician not to invite Musa for the 2021 AFCON because he’s clubless.

"Ahmed Musa is without a club at the moment, so we need to look at other players."

Gernot Rohr's men are currently at the summit of Group L with eight points from four games followed by Benin who have seven points after the same number of matches so far.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Nigeria Football Federation chiefs might be attempting to convince Bournemouth star Arnaut Danjuma to play for the country at the senior level.

The 24-year-old, born to a Nigerian mother and Dutch father is eligible to play for either country but it is left to be seen where he will commit his future.

Danjuma moved to the Netherlands at the age of four and later joined PSV’s academy after being born in Lagos in 1997.
