Manchester United are confident that their record signing Paul Pogba will shun interests from other clubs and sign a new deal to remain at Old Trafford beyond the summer of 2022.

Real Madrid and Juventus are the two leading European giants interested in the French World Cup winner but the Red Devils have refused to allow him to leave.

The midfielder is currently out injured since he picked up an ankle injury during his side's 3-3 draw against Everton earlier this month.

According to SunSport the 27-year-old's agent Mino Raiola revealed back in December that his time at the club was 'over'.

The 53-year-old was criticised heavily for the timing of his announcement as it was on the eve of a crucial Champions League game against RB Leipzig.

Before his injury, Pogba was super impressive for United - playing a crucial role in Ols Gunnar Solskjaer's rise to the second position on the Premier League table this campaign.

But his current injury may have downed the morale while the talks of his exit from Old Trafford continue to make the headlines.

Meanwhile, ESPN claims Man Utd 'haven't given up hope' of putting pen to paper to extend his contract beyond 2022.

The World Cup has scored four times in 28 appearances across competitions for the Red Devils and if he returns early enough, he could increase the tally.

If he was to leave, it would appear Real Madrid are the front-runners to secure his signature.

Solskjaer's team have been less reliant on Pogba this season thanks to the talismanic performances of Bruno Fernandes.

Next up for Man Utd is a trip to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea in a Sunday afternoon showdown.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Paul Pogba will not be available for Manchester United when they visit Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

The Frenchman has been on the sidelines since the start of this month after picking up a thigh injury during their 3-3 draw against Everton.

He has since then missed five of the Red Devils fixtures including their rounds of 32 Europa League encounters with Spanish League side Real Sociedad.
