President Muhammadu Buhari has finally reacted to the abduction of Zamfara school children. The president said criminals terrorising the country should not think that they are more powerful than the government.

The president disclosed this in a series of tweets on Friday, February 26.

According to the president, the country has the capacity to massively deal with the bandits. He however said the country is limited by fear of casualty.

NDLEA makes disturbing revelation on bandits' demand as ransom

"We have the capacity to deploy massive force against the bandits in the villages where they operate, but our limitation is the fear of heavy casualties of innocent villagers and hostages who might be used as human shields by the bandits."

Going further, the president sends serious warning to all kidnappers, terrorists and bandits. He said they should not entertain any belief that the government cannot do anything to deal with them.

"Let bandits, kidnappers and terrorists not entertain any illusions that they are more powerful than the government. They shouldn't mistake our restraint for the humanitarian goals of protecting innocent lives as a weakness or a sign of fear or irresolution."
Let me say this again: We will not succumb to blackmail by bandits and criminals who target innocent school students in the expectation of huge ransom payments.
