Families of those imprisoned in Saudi Arabia have reportedly told Barcelona legend Lionel Messi not to accept a mega million deal for him to promote the tourism board of the nation.

Human rights advocacy body Grant Liberty organised an open letter to the six-time Ballon d'Or winner telling him not to join the campaign in promoting tourism in Saudi Arabia.

There have been reports that the body in charge of the tourism are seriously planning to convince Lionel Messi with massive deal so as for his image to be used.

According to the report on Sportyst, there are people who have been sent to jail because of their efforts to shed more light on human rights violation.

Lovers and relatives of these people feel it won't be proper for Lionel Messi to be promoting anything in Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi and his teammates at Barcelona are currently occupying third position on the La Liga table with 50 points after 24 games played so far.

The Catalans will have to raise their game this season for them to have the chance of winning any title under Ronald Koeman.

Koeman and his wards suffered an embarrassing defeat in the Champions League round of 16 first leg match against Paris Saint-Germain.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Barcelona captain Lionel Messi was on the score sheet in their 1-1 draw against Cadiz in Sunday’s La Liga fixture and that goal means he has only failed to find the back of the net against eight teams he has met.

The Catalan giants would have themselves to blame as they allowed 28-year-old midfielder Alex Fernandez grab the equalizer late in the game at Camp Nou.

Barcelona were first handed a penalty in the 31st minute after Isaac Carcelen from Cadiz tripped Pedri in which Lionel Messi stepped forward to score the goal a minute later.

They were heading for a win before Clement Lenglet's dangerous play against Ruben Sobrino gifted the visitors a penalty in the 89th minute which was scored to give them a point.
