Man United legend Rio Ferdinand has admitted rivals City are clear frontrunners for the Champions League title this season.

City already have one foot in the quarter-finals of the European competition after they secured a crucial 2-0 win over Borussia Monchenglabach in the first leg of their last 16.

Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus scored a goal each in either half of the tie played at the Puskas Arena to guide the Citizens to a deserved win.

The victory meant City are now on a 19-game unbeaten run in all competitions, with their last defeat coming back in November 2020.

But with the Pep Guardiola-tutored side threatening to lift the Champions League, Ferdinand believes the outfit is bound to face two threats in their quest.

According to the former England international, only reigning champions Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain could stand in the way of City's journey to triumph.

"I think Bayern have got the experience and the quality. But I think Paris Saint-Germain as well," Rio told BT Sports after City edged Gladbach.
"If you’re playing against a team with the likes of Mbappe and Neymar in a shootout, you’re dicing with it there," he added.

Bayern and PSG sealed huge victories in their respective first leg fixtures, with both teams winning by a 4-1 scoreline away from home.

Meanwhile, Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes Bruno Fernandes could be demoralising Manchester United teammates with his 'perfectionist' attitude.

The midfielder joined the Red Devils in January 2020 from Sporting Lisbon and became an instant success at Old Trafford - helping them finish third last season in spite of their poor start.
