The newly confirmed chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Abdulrasheed Bawa has revealed that he has no issue with the former acting boss of the anti-graft agency.

Bawa who disclosed this during his confirmation hearing claimed that the former boss called to congratulate him.

According to him, he has cordial relationship with Magu and he was not arrested at any time.

He said:

"I have a very cordial relationship with former Acting Chairman Ibrahim Magu. I was never arrested nor detained by him. He called me on phone to congratulate me on my appointment. I do have a very cordial working relationship with former Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu."

Legit.ng had reported that the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) described the nomination of Bawa as chairman of the EFCC as another win for Nigerian youths.

The NYCN made the declaration in a statement sent to Legit.ng on Wednesday, February 17, and signed by its president, Comrade Solomon Adodo.

The council said it received with great delight the news of the nomination of the 40-year-old EFCC career staff subject to the confirmation of the Nigerian Senate.

Part of the statement read:

“Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa's nomination is another great win for the Nigerian youth and has gone a great deal in unifying the youth irrespective of religious or regional inclinations."
