Bruno Fernandes scored twice while Marcus Rashford and Daniel James added the third and fourth in what was a fairly comfortable night for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men in Spain.

The Portuguese international continued his inspired form this season when he opened the scoring in the 27th minute, raking advantage of some shaky defending from the home side.

A ball over the top from Rashford saw defenders Igor Zubeldia and Robin le Normand collide with goalkeeper Alex Remiro to give Fernandes an easy tap in for the opener,

His second was a sublime finish from the edge of the area as he dug the ball from his feet after a delightful touch from Daniel James.

The flag was initially raised but after a lengthy check, the goal was eventually given.

The second goal seemed to calm United much more as they played with more authority and could afford to attempt more chances without much pressure.

Rashford added a third with a powerful low drive in the 64th minute after being freed by Fred while Daniel James, who was keen to show Solskjaer why he needed more playing time, had a goal initially ruled out.

The former Swansea man eventually got his goal in the 90th minute after United severally cut open Sociedad’s naïve defence as he fired past the goalkeeper’s legs to give Solskjaer a comfortable advantage going into the second leg.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Manchester United announced that their forward Mason Greenwood has signed a new four-year deal which will keep the Englishman at Old Trafford until 2025.

This latest development will come as a big one for all Manchester United fans considering how they have been waiting for the future of Greenwood to be sorted out.

Mason Greenwood started his career at Manchester United academy when he was seven and was closely monitored then by former coach Sir Alex Ferguson.
