BREAKING: Police deploy more operatives, assets to save abducted students in Niger

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) says it has deployed additional rescue assets to save the recently abducted students in Niger state.
This was contained in a statement sent to Legit.ng on Thursday, February 18 by the spokesperson of the NPF, CP Frank Mba.
According to the statement, a joint massive search and rescue mission involving the police, the military, and other law enforcement agencies is ongoing to ensure that all abducted persons are rescued unhurt and reunited with their families.

The statement also quoted the Inspector-General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, assuring Nigerians that the NPF is irrevocably committed to the safe rescue of all abductees in the recent attack.
Legit.ng lists the operatives and asset to be deployed below:
1. Four (4) units of Police Mobile Force (PMF) attached to Operation Puff Adder II
2. One (1) Unit of Police Special Forces, personnel of the Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU), and operatives from the Force Intelligence Bureau and the Force Criminal Investigations Department.
3. One (1) Police aerial surveillance helicopter has also been deployed.
Legit.ng had earlier reported that an undisclosed number of students have been abducted in a raid by suspected armed bandits on the Government Science College Kagara in Niger state.
Shehu Sani, a former Nigerian senator via Twitter on Wednesday, February 17, confirmed the attack on the school which is his alma mata, adding that some staff members of the institution were also abducted by armed men.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Senate has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a state of emergency across the country with immediate effect.
The demand was part of the Senate’s resolution on Wednesday, February 17 as a holistic response to the mounting security challenges across the country.
