Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand is the latest to shower praises on Paris Saint Germain forward Kylian Mbappe after his impressive display against Barcelona at Camp Nou.

The Frenchman scored a hat-trick against the Catalans in the first leg of their Champions League rounds of 16 meeting earlier this week - giving his side an advantage ahead of the second leg.

Despite conceding an early goal, the World Cup winner responded almost immediately to cancel-out Lionel Messi's spot-kick in the 32nd minute.

And he went ahead to score two more goals in the second half while Moise Kean also got on the scores sheet for the Parisians on the night.

However, Mbappe has been singled out for praises by football legends with the former Red Devils defender saying the attacker has shown he is the man for the big occasion.

He added that the 22-year-old is 'standing alone' from the rest of the best young players in the world according to Daily Mail.

"Mbappe is on his own, out of young players he’s on his own. People forget he’s 22 years old, Mbappe, given he’s won the World Cup, what he’s done in the French league, in the Champions League he’s been immense.
"I just feel that he’s the guy now that’s going to take the throne, take the crown, he’s standing alone at the moment. It’s for everybody to catch up to him now.
"This guy is going to take over the throne from Messi and Ronaldo when they’re done with it. He’s given a statement, this is me now, I’m the man for this big stage."

Meanwhile, PSG will be hoping they can convince the attacker to stay beyond next year when his current deal with them expires.

Legit.ng earlier reported that former Liverpool forward Joe Cole has labelled Kylian Mbappe the world's best player after singlehandedly inspiring Paris Saint Germain to a 4-1 win over Barcelona at Camp Nou.

The Frenchman scored a hat-trick while Moise Kean also got on the scores sheet as Lionel Messi's goal from the spot ended up a mere consolation ahead of their second leg in France next month.

It took Mbappe about five minutes to restore parity for the visitors in spite of Neymar's absence from the game due to injury.
