6 Zamfara children killed after playing with explosive in forest

A bomb explosion that rocked Magami village in the Maradun local government area of Zamfara on Tuesday, February 16, threw residents and natives into confusion.
Even worse, the state's commissioner for security and home affairs, Abubakar Dauran, revealed in his confirmation of the news that the explosive detonated after some children picked it up in a bush and started playing with it, Channels TV reports.
Dauran disclosed that the kids were in the forest to gather firewood for fire but in the course of this found the device attractive, thinking it was a toy.

The commissioner added that after the explosion, six of the children were killed at the spot while some others incurred serious injuries.

He went on to state that those who survived the tragedy were rushed to a hospital in Gusau but that one of them died while receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, soldiers of the Nigerian Army had launched attacks on unrepentant bandits in various locations in Zamfara state, killing no fewer than 35 of them.
Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, the coordinator, Defence Media Operations made the disclosure in a statement released and shared on the Facebook page of Defence Headquarters Nigeria.
Eneche speaking on military operations said troops of Forward Operating Base Kekuwuje during a counter-attack on Sunday, January 17, neutralised 30 armed bandits. The soldiers recovered 24 cows and an unspecified number of sheep.
The coordinator said the operation was launched following credible intelligence on the movement of armed bandits at Bungudu LGA of Zamfara state.
