The United States Mission in Nigeria on Monday, February 15, posted photos of its dairy farm located in Ikun community, Ekiti state.

In a post on Twitter and Instagram, the US mission revealed that it plans to reach 10,000 litres of milk daily produced locally from Nigeria.

The farm, which has the support of the Governor Kayode Fayemi-led administration in Ekiti, was established by the US consulate in Lagos in order to help "grow Nigeria and diversify its economy."

This publication also notes that some of the cows, which are of a special breed, are impregnated through insemination.

Notable milk makers including Promasidor Nigeria Limited have investments in the farm.

The tweet read:

"Ikun dairy farm plans to reach 10,000 litres of milk daily with cows from the USA. A great collaboration with Consulate Lagos that helps Nigeria grow and diversify its economy."

Interestingly, the US farm is a great template for the ranching system which the federal and state government hope to implement in the light of brewing ethnic tension stoked by the continuous farmers-herders crisis in Benue and some states in the southwest and southeast.
