The election was eventually won by the APC, a development which reignites Omisore's political influence in the southwest state.

In a related development, Senator Rasidi Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo state, is allegedly set to join the ruling APC ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Ladoja and his supporters in Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) on Friday, February 12, initiated merger talks with the APC.

The meeting, which was held at the Premier Hotel, Mokla, Ibadan, was reportedly approved by Ladoja.

Meanwhile, amid the growing speculations surrounding his alleged planned defection to the APC, ex-minister Femi Fani-Kayode, on Saturday, February 13, "bumped" into an "old friend" Femi Adesina.

The PDP chieftain, in a tweet, said he met the media and publicity adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari at Abuja airport.

The meeting, according to FFK, was accidental, with the former aviation minister jokingly saying he was "really in trouble"; referring to conversation drawn to him recently.
