Nigerian forward Moses Simon inspired his French League side Nantes to their first win in the new year following their 3-1 triumph over Angers on Valentine's Day.

Imran Louza converted a spot-kick in the seventh minute after Ludovic Blas was fouled in the danger zone.

The visitors maintained their dominance in the game until the 31st minute when the home team also won a penalty but Sofiane Boufal squandered the chance.

However, Thomas Mangani was presented with another chance from the spot and he calmly picked his spot and converted the chance properly. This would have made it 2-2 if not that the home team had they scored their first penalty.

In the 60th minute, Kader Bamba came on for Moses and he also recorded his name on the scores sheet four minutes to the end of the meeting.

The 26-year-old made a one-two with Blas before racing towards the hosts' goal post and then dribble the goalkeeper before using his left leg to put the ball in the back of the net.

Meanwhile, despite their victory away from home, The Yellow House are still battling relegation as they sit 18th on the table with 22 points from 25 league games so far this campaign.

Legit.ng earlier reported that two first-half goals from Karim Benzema and Toni Kroos were all Real Madrid needed to outscore Valencia at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano.

The victory propelled Los Blancos to the second position on the log with three points better than bitter rivals Barcelona who have played one game less.

Coach Zinedine Zidane's men got the game off to an impressive start after finding the back of the net in the 12th minute.
