Yisa Sofoluwe's wife claims husband never had COVID-19 before death

Busola who is the wife of late former Super Eagles star Yisa Sofoluwe had rubbished claims that her husband contracted the deadly COVID-19 before he died in a hospital in Lagos.

The death of Yisa Sofoluwe still remains a shocking one for Nigerians most especially football followers home and abroad considering his achievements during his active playing time.

Yisa Sofoluwe was reported to have been diagnosed with brain disease before he died despite efforts by the medical practitioners to save his dear life.

There were also reports that even the Sports Minister Sunday Dare was planning to fly the former Super Eagles star abroad for medical treatment before he died.

However, there was speculation that the 53-year-old had COVID-19 which led to his death at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.

But according to the report by respected Newspaper PUNCH who spoke with the wife of the deceased, she claimed that her husband was unable to use his two legs while on the hospital bed.

“News that my husband died of COVID-19 isn’t true. Even when the doctor released him to us, the man said it was not COVID-19 that killed him.

''He said he did not write anything like that, he said he did not know who told people that my husband died of COVID-19, that it wasn’t him.

“COVID-19 cannot paralyse a person. Immediately that thing happened, his two legs were off.''

In the Nigerian national team, Yisa Sofoluwe played 40 games netting one goal for the three-time African champions and also participated in the 1984 and 1988 AFCON.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Ahmed Musa's proposed transfer to Premier League giants West Brom was cancelled by the club's chiefs after training with them for almost one week.

The Super Eagles captain was said to have travelled to the United Kingdom last week where he was accessed by West Brom's coaching crew who are looking for an agile striker.

Since leaving Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr last year October, Ahmed Musa has been looking for ways to return to the Premier League after his unsuccessful stint at Leicester City.

At Leicester City, Ahmed Musa managed to play 33 games for the Foxes which included six Champions League appearances before he left the side scoring five goals.
