- Despite spending big last summer, Chelsea are expected to be active in the upcoming window as Thomas Tuchel looks to build his own team
- The Blues have already been linked with Bundesliga pair Erling Haaland and Dayot Upamecamo
- However, they will face stiff competition from rival clubs who are also eyeing moves for the duo
Thomas Tuchel has all but hinted Chelsea's interest in Bundesliga stars Erling Haaland and Dayot Upamecano.
It is believed the Blues, who spent more than £200 million on transfers in the summer could be headed for another busy transfer window that could see them sign new players.
According to Tuchel, he shares the "interest of every fan" in the futures of both Haaland and Upamecano.
The Italian boss has had a fine start to life since his arrival at Stamford Bridge, guiding Chelsea to an unbeaten run of four games.
Mirror UK now reports Tuchel hopes to have the financial backing his predecessor had in last summer as he looks to build his own team that he believes can compete for titles.
The west London side have already been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund's Haaland and RB Leipzig centre-back Upamecano.
However, Tuchel remains coy on the transfer speculation, pointing out it would be wrong to discuss players who have active contracts with other clubs.
"I am also always a fan and interested in what is going on. But now is February. There is a long way to go," the ex-PSG boss said when asked if Chelsea will submit offers for the Bundesliga duo this summer.
"As you know me or maybe get to know me better, I will not talk about other players publicly when they are under contract," he added.
Should the Premier League outfit go all out for the two transfers, they will have to contend with stiff competition from rival clubs also eyeing the players in the summer.
Real Madrid and Man United have both been linked with Haaland who joined Dortmund from RB Salzburg.
The Red Devils are also understood to be in the market in search of a centre-back who can form a formidable partnership with Harry Maguire and had identified Upamecano as a possible candidate.
