Neymar is doubtful for Paris Saint Germain's Champions League rounds of 16 clash against Barcelona this month.

The 29-year-old winger was taken out during his side's 1-0 win over Caen in the French Cup earlier this week.

Moise Kean scored the only goal of the game with the assist credited to the Brazilian attacker who was then substituted due to injury in the 64th minute.

He was then replaced with Kylian Mbappe for the remainder of the encounter but the Brazilian seemed very disappointed as he went straight down the tunnel.

The hero of the game, Kean, was however confident the most expensive footballer in the world would be back soon. He told Eurosport and Goal reported:

"Everything is fine. He is ready. He's going to be ready for the next game."

Neymar would be hoping to avoid another long injury layoff after experiencing a similar occurrence in the 2017-18 season.

He suffered a fractured bone and missed the remainder of the campaign and PSG were ousted in the last 16 by Real Madrid.

He had suffered an almost identical fate in January 2019, and could only look on as the French side were upset by Manchester United at the same stage.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Barcelona's hopes of signing their former player Neymar may have been dashed after the Brazilian hinted he is willing to extend his Paris Saint Germain's contract.

The 28-year-old became the world's most expensive player in 2017 after completing a five-year move from the Catalans to join the Parisians in a deal valued at around €222 million.

Although, he was rumoured to be unhappy in his first few seasons at the Parc Des Princes owing to their disappointments in European competitions.
