Following much speculations in the political sector, former minister of aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode may not be on his way to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) after all.

The Osun-born politician has dismissed the comment credited to Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello that he has defected to the APC.

Fani-Kayode made this known in a tweet from his verified Twitter handle @realFFK on Wednesday, February 10, sighted by Legit.ng.

The former minister's statement is coming hours after Bello officially confirmed that Fani-Kayode defected to the APC in a trending video.

The Kogi state governor who made the comment after he revalidated his APC membership in his country home said the former minister joined the ruling party in good faith.

According to the tweet, Fani-Kayode stated that he has not left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

While dismissing the claim that he has joined the APC, the outspoken ex-minister admitted to meeting with leaders of the ruling party in the season of political consultation.

Media reports on Fani-Kayode's departure from the opposition became a trending topic after photos of the former minister and Kogi state governor surfaced on social media.

This development is coming days after some youths in the APC vowed to walk out Fani-Kayode if he is sighted at any event of the ruling party.

The youths took to social media to reveal their plans if the rumours of the politician returning to the party were true.

Legit.ng had earlier reported that Bashir Ahmad, the personal assistant to President Buhari on new media, frowned at the reports that Fani-Kayode might be heading back to the APC.

He wrote on Twitter:

“If he decides to join the governing party, I don’t think he will be welcome by majority of the party members, who he made it a duty to attack and insult for several years.”
