A former senator, Dino Melaye, has lashed out at people he claims have been urging him to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The politician in a Tweet on Tuesday, February 9, said he cannot leave his party for the APC.

The former lawmaker also mocked the ruling party, described it as a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO).

He said:

‘’God go punish those coming to say Dino leave PDP. How can l leave a Political Party and join an NGO like APC. Yeye dey smell...comot 4 road jare. SDM.”

Melaye’s comments come on the heels of reports that a former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode might be planning to defect to the APC.

The reports emerged after the former minister on Monday, February 8, met with the caretaker chairman of the APC, Mai Mala Buni; and Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state.

However, the politician on Tuesday, February 9, said his meeting with the Yobe and Kogi governors was to discuss pressing national concerns, party politics and host of affairs he will not mind partaking irrespective of his allegiance to the PDP.

Meanwhile, some youths who are members of the ruling APC have threatened to walk-out Femi Fani-Kayode any day he attends the party's functions.

The youths took to social media to reveal their plans after rumours surfaced in the media that Fani-Kayode, a former aviation minister, is on his way back to the APC.

Olusegun's tweet was retweeted by Ismaeel Ahmed, a respected youth leader in the ruling party who recently led young people in APC to visit President Muhammadu Buhari.

Similarly, a presidential media aide, Bashir Ahmad seems not to be comfortable with the news about Fani-Kayode joining the APC

The special adviser on media to the Kano state governor, Salihu Tanko Yakasai, also expressed his disgust at the trending news.
