Exactly eight years ago, Nigeria lifted her third Africa Cup of Nations title in South Africa in a grand style.

The late coach Stephen Keshi-led team defeated Burkina Faso by a lone goal courtesy of Sunday Mba at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

It was indeed a surprise for many as most people did not give the team a chance to go far in the tournament not to talk of winning the competition.

The team was a blend of foreign and home-based stars and they were able to achieve the ultimate goal of winning the most coveted prize in African football eight years ago.

Although Stephen Keshi is late, the memory of the feat he achieved will linger a lifetime as he is one of the few African stars to have won the silverware as a player and then as a coach.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has hinted that Al Shabab of Saudi Arabia striker Odion Ighalo could be welcomed back into the Super Eagles anytime soon.

The striker called it quits with the national team right after inspiring Nigeria to a third-place finish at the 2019 AFCON tournament in Egypt where he emerged as tournament’s top scorer.

During the qualifiers for the competition, Ighalo scored a total of seven goals- the most by any player and found the net against Burundi in the group phase; Cameroon in the round of 16; Algeria in the semi-finals and Tunisia in the third-place playoff.
