A former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Senator Anyim Pius has reacted to claims that he intentionally absented himself from a Southeast Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) meeting.

Anyim said the reports fabricated by persons he described as mischief-makers were all false, insisting that he was at the PDP meeting held on Monday, February 8, in Enugu.

The former SGF claimed the allegation was born out of terrible desperation to undo him at any cost, The Nation reports.

The senator maintained that his presence at the zonal meeting was obvious because he was even the last to leave the venue since he had talks with some party chieftains and stakeholders on preparations for the Anambra gubernatorial election.

Anyim said:

“I participated in every stage of the meeting. I was even the last to leave because I was interacting with some party, stakeholders, including the governor of Enugu."

Clearing the air further, he noted that the meeting was solely for the coming Anambra election and not a caucus thing.

The PDP bigwig also dismissed claims that he and Ali Odefa, the chairman of the zonal caretaker committee, were at loggerheads.

His words:

“There is no feud between me and Odefa. He even followed me home. We have been here together. So, how can there be any feud between us, for what?”

In other news, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state expressed confidence in the PDP cruising to a massive victory in the coming Anambra guber election.

Addressing PDP leaders in the southeast on Monday in Enugu, to reconcile Anambra stakeholders, Governor Wike said winning the governorship election is crucial to the PDP household.

Wike said all stakeholders must unite and work together in order to avoid a scene that played out in the Ondo election in which the All Progressives Congres (APC) won.
