My govt will achieve all its targets before 2023, says Gov Okowa

- Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is confident that his government will deliver all its promises before it exits in 2023

- The governor made the promise while swearing-in two new appointees of his administration

- Governor Okowa hailed the new entrants in his government as grassroots politicians with huge experience

Delta state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, on Monday, February 8 reaffirmed that his administration would achieve its set target before the end of its tenure.

The governor also promised that his administration would continue to give responsibilities and portfolios to people with experience in governance for the attainment of a stronger Delta state as conceived at the inception of his government.

A statement from the Delta state government seen by Legit.ng noted that the governor made the comment while swearing in two new special advisers in the state, Dr Augustine Obidi and Chief Ebikeme Clark, at Government House, Asaba, the state capital.

The governor stated that he had known the two new appointees as grassroots politicians with considerable experience in governance and that a lot was expected from them as contributions to the greater development of the state.

Speaking to the new appointees, Governor Okowa said:

“I urge you to face your appointments with hard work and dedication and I hope that the zeal I noticed in you will be far better with this appointment. It is my prayer that the confidence reposed in both of you will not be lost in the course of time.”

Responding on behalf of the new advisers, Obidi thanked the governor for considering them worthy to be part of his administration.

He said that they identified with the governor’s vision for a greater Delta and pledged to partner with appointees already in government to enhance governance in the state.

Meanwhile, Governor Okowa has commended the federal government on the commencement of the expanded special public works programme in the country.

The Delta state governor noted that the initiative will help curb unemployment in the country.

In a related development, Delta state government, on Friday, January 22 approved the widening and rehabilitation of the 2.1 kilometres Orhunwhorun road in Udu local government area of the state at a total cost of N398.2 million.

The decision was taken at the first state executive council meeting for the year 2021 which was presided by Governor Okowa.
