A former professional footballer who is currently working as a pundit Graeme Souness has made it clear that Timo Werner was the major reason that got Frank Lampard sacked at Chelsea.

Last season, Frank Lampard replaced Sarri as Chelsea's coach and helped the Blues to finish among the top four teams on the final Premier League table.

The former England international signed Timo Werner and other players before the start of the ongoing Premier League term, but the Blues were unable to get a good result.

Frank Lampard was eventually sacked by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich who replaced him with former Paris Saint-Germain gaffer Thomas Tuchel.

On Sunday, February 7, Timo Werner was impressive for the Blues as he produced two assists which helped the Stamford Bridge landlords to beat Sheffield United in League game.

Despite making two great assists, Timo Werner has failed to score for Chelsea in 14 League games this season.

According to the report on Daily Mail, Graeme Souness claimed that Frank Lampard would not have lost his job at Chelsea if Timo Werner had performed.

''I’m yet to be convinced by Werner. Chelsea are a team that’s full of really good players with big technique.
''They get into the last third time and time again and they will wonder what he is doing. They need more from him.
''Put it this way, if he had done the business, Frank would still be in a job.''

Thomas Tuchel and his wards at Stamford Bridge are currently occupying fifth position on the Premier League table with 39 points after 23 games played so far.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Thomas Tuchel who is the gaffer of Premier League giants Chelsea explained that it is his job to get the best out of German striker Timo Werner.

Since joining Chelsea before the start of the ongoing Premier League season, Timo Werner has not been impressive for the Blues in all competitions netting nine goals.

Tuchel explained that he failed to start Timo against Wolves in his first game in charge of Chelsea because he was not sure of his confidence.

He, however, insisted that Werner will come good and he says his body language and the fact he looks so worried is a good thing because it shows he cares.
