Reigning Premier League kings Liverpool were handed a third straight home defeat on Sunday night, February 7, after Manchester City thrashed them 4-1 at Anfield.

The Citizens defeated the defending champions in a thrilling Premier League encounter at Anfield to open a five-point gap over second-placed team Manchester United.

Liverpool remain fourth on the standings with 40 points, a massive seven off leaders City.

Jurgen Klopp's side has now become the first team after Chelsea, to lose three straight home league games the season after emerging EPL champions.

Chelsea were the first to record such an unwanted record over 60 years back and Klopp says top four is now Liverpool's 'main target'.

After the game, it was Keane who was trending on social media, however, after he tore Liverpool apart live on Sky Sports. Keane said:

“We spoke before the game… they are making a lot of excuses. To me they’ve been bad champions.
“I think they’ve all believed the hype over the past year or two. It’s as if they won the league last year, got carried away and all believed their own hype.”

On the other hand, Gary Neville singled out David de Gea for blame following Man United's disappointing 3-3 draw against Everton at Old Trafford.

United surrendered a 2-0 advantage during the Saturday night, February 6 clash, to allow the visitors to restore parity.

The disappointing stalemate leaves the Old Trafford dwellers second with 45 points, five behind leaders Man City who have one match in hand.

They will be keen to get their title charge back on track when they face relegation-threatened West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, February 14.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Man United defender Phil Jones has made a return to the club's squad after he was named in the side's squad for Europa League.

The Red Devils are set to face La Liga outfit Real Sociedad in the round of 32 later this February for a chance to reach the last 16.

And to ensure he has enough squad depth, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has surprisingly added Jones to his squad.

The English defender has been out injured and has not made an appearance for the Old Trafford dwellers for more than a year now.
