Members of the ruling party in the northern state have also agreed to form a formidable force ahead of future elections.

This development is coming almost a week after Yari and Marafa finally agreed to embrace peace after months of power struggle.

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state on Monday, February 1, met with the two factional leaders of the APC in the state to end the lingering crisis rocking the party.

Buni, who is the caretaker committee chairman of the APC, met with Yari and Marafa at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

The PDP which is the ruling party in the state said the decision of the APC factions to unite would not affect its fortunes during the next general elections.

Some PDP loyalists who reacted to the development, however, said the reconciliation would not affect their party in the 2023 general elections.

In a related development, Yari lost N700 million to the federal government. The former governor was asked to forfeit the said sum by the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court.

This order followed an application that was brought before the court by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC).
