Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has asked Bruno Fernandes to exercise self-restraint after the midfielder was lucky to escape punishment on Saturday, January 30, against Arsenal.

Fernandes formed part of United's starting line up that settled for a barren draw during the Premier League encounter as the Red Devils lost more ground in the title race.

Despite enjoying a stellar spell since his arrival at Old Trafford, the Portuguese playmaker was unable to guide United to a much-needed win against the Gunners who missed the services of three key players.

A solid Arsenal defence fended off any threat posed by the visitors, with Fernandes being kept at bay through the match.

However, the former Sporting Lisbon captain may have still been fortunate to see out the rest of the encounter as he escaped any punishment with a wild tackle on Granit Xhaka.

Fernandes was caught raking his studs down the back of Xhaka Achilles just moments after he was involved in an altercation with Cedric Soares after the defender fouled him.

A concerned Solskjaer has now moved to send his playmaker a cautionary note, urging him not to let his temper get the better of him.

However, the Norwegian took time to underscore Bruno's importance, insisting he is a key member to the squad.

"He’s a winner of course just got to watch it so it doesn’t boil over little bit of a stamp on Xhaka. But that’s Bruno, he wants to win, he wants to tackle," Ole said as cited by Metro UK.
"I’m very pleased to have him, he’s been here a year now and long may that continue and hopefully he’ll have a super successful time," he added.

The draw at the Emirates leaves United three points off leaders Man City and face the prospect of dropping to third should Leicester win their own fixture.

The Old Trafford dwellers now shift their focus on their upcoming fixture against Southampton set for Tuesday, February 2.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Marcus Rashford has hit back at racist comments targetted against after ManUnited played out a 0-0 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates, The Sun.

The 23-year-old played the entire 90 minutes of the game as both sides failed to find the back of the net.

The England international revealed on his Twitter handle that some fans made vile racist comments and he stood bravely against the trolls.
