The Gunners have enjoyed a steady revival in recent days with encouraging results in the Premier League.

The north Londoners are unbeaten in five of their last league fixtures, picking an impressive nine points in the process.

Their 0-0 barren draw against rivals Man United on Saturday, January 30, has them sitting ninth on the standings with 31 points, just six off a top-four place.

Arsenal managed the encouraging draw despite missing the services of three key players including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka.

However, that notwithstanding, Carragher feels the Emirates dwellers have no chance of booking a place in the Champions League this season.

According to the Liverpool hero, Mikel Arteta's men have no stamina to challenge elite clubs for a slot in the top four and should now aim securing Europa League football.

Carragher noted the only possible avenue for Arsenal to make it into the Champions League is through Europa where they are scheduled to take on Benfica in the round of 32 from mid-February.

"To be playing European football next season. They are still in the Europa League so that’s an avenue for them for Champions League, there’s no way they’re going to get top four," Carragher said when asked what Arteta’s target should be.
"There’s still a long way to go, they’ll be having an eye on next season as well. If they’re in the Europa League next season they’ll have done OK, considering where they were," he added as cited by Metro UK.

Arsenal will have to contend with three Premier League fixtures against out-of-form Wolves, Aston Villa and Leeds United before they resume their Europa campaign.

A favourable result in the three meetings is expected to put Arsenal in a pole position of securing European football.
