Real Madrid suffer yet another setback in their quest to retain the Spanish League title following their 2-1 defeat to Levante at the Alfredo Di Stefano.

Los Blancos got the game off to a blistering start with Marco Asensio firing the hosts ahead just after 13 minutes of action.

The 25-year-old outran three defenders after receiving a stunning pass from Toni Kroos from a counter-attacking move before sending the ball into the bottom left corner of Aitor's post.

Jose Luis Morales restored parity for Paco Lopez's men in the 32nd minute with an outstanding strike from Jorge Miramon's cross.

They had a chance to take the lead in the 64th minute but Roger blew the chance after failing to convert the penalty.

Thibaut Courtois did well to stop the away team after parrying the spot-kick from entering into his net but it was only a matter of time that the hosts would concede their second goal of the game.

The same player who missed the penalty kick finally put his side ahead with a stunning goal after receiving a pass, controlled it in the 18-yard box and fired home from close range.

And Madrid had no come back on this one as they lost their fourth game of the season while they sit second on the table with 40 points after 20 games.
