12 dead in fresh attack on Fulani settlement in northern state

A report by The Guardian indicates that no fewer than 12 people have been killed in a fresh attack by bandits in a Fulani settlement in Kaduna state.

According to the report, bandits stormed Na’ikko village in Giwa Council of the state and started shooting sporadically. They also razed down many houses in the community.

Nura Haruna, who lost two sons and two of his brothers in the unfortunate attack, confirmed the violence when the commissioner for internal security and home affairs, Samuel Aruwan, visited displaced persons at Barrkalahu.

The report further revealed that most residents have fled their homes and are presently taking refuge at Barkallahu village in Igabi Council.

Aruwan commiserated with the victims and appealed to them to shun any form of reprisals. The commissioner assured the people ing that government would do everything within its powers to arrest the masterminds of the attack.

Bandits kill 8-month pregnant woman

The incident comes days after suspected armed bandits killed an eight-month pregnant health worker along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari highway, after opening fire on a commercial vehicle travelling to the state.

The woman was killed while traveling to Kaduna from Birnin Gwari at a place called Zankoro before Unguwar Yako on Sunday, January 24.

It was gathered that the bandits opened fire on the commercial vehicle around noon in an attempt to stop the vehicle.

Armed bandits kill 19 villagers

Recall that, no fewer than 19 people have been killed in a fresh two-day attack by bandits in Kaduna state.

Twelve of the deceased were indigenes of Kaya, Giwa local government area. Also, two married women were among an unspecified number of the villagers said to have been kidnapped by the bandits during the coordinated attacks, while nine persons sustained bullet injuries.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna state government has vowed to unmask those behind the burning of a church in the area.

The pavilion erected by the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) for its youth conference scheduled to hold in Zangon-Kataf local government area of Kaduna state,was set ablaze.
