Presidency finally reveals details of Buhari's first meeting with new service chiefs

- President Buhari has given an order to the new service chiefs to end insurgency in Nigeria

- The charge was given in Aso Rock during the president's first meeting with the new chiefs

Barely three days after their appointment, the presidency has revealed what President Muhammadu Buhari told the new service chiefs in the fight against insurgency in the country.

Legit.ng reports that the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, on Friday, January 29, said his principal charged the new service chiefs to use their skills and experience to end insecurity in Nigeria.

He wrote:

“The president welcomed them, saying the meeting was to congratulate them “for heading your arm of the service. There was nothing I can tell you about the military since you are in it and I was in it too.

“President Buhari assured that whatever he could do as C-in-C would be done, so that people will appreciate your efforts. You know the stage we were in 2015, and you know the stage we are now, and the undertakings we made."

The president said he encouraged the people to go back to the land and that they obeyed, adding that the country has virtually attained food security.

He said if people had not listened, Nigerians would have been in great trouble, saying that there would have been no money to import food, with the crash in oil prices in the international market.

Buhari also reminded the new chiefs that the country was literally in a state of emergency, stressing for them to be patriotic, serve the country well because their loyalty is to the country.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the former Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai (retd.), disclosed that the Nigerian Army would never remain the same.

It was reported that Buratai who resigned on Tuesday, January 26, alongside other security chiefs in the country, explained that this is due to his transformational leadership and landmark achievements.

He revealed this during his official handover to Major General Ibrahim Attahiru, the new chief of Army staff at the army headquarters on Thursday, January 28.
