Sunday Igboho claims Yoruba people supported arsonists who razed his house

An activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Igboho, has alleged that some Yorubas were complicit in the arson attack on his house.

Legit.ng had reported that the house located in Soka area of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, was destroyed by fire in the early hours of Tuesday, January 26.

The Oyo state police command which confirmed the incident stated that hoodlums loaded in a bus and taxi set the house ablaze.

In his response, Igboho told journalists that his house was razed by bandits, who were supported by some Yoruba people, The Nation reported.

He said:

“What I find surprising is that some Yorubas are in support of the herdsmen to set my house on fire. I’m saddened by it.''

According to him, the value of damaged items in the residence could not be less than N50m.

The activist, however, stated that he could not name any suspects for now.

According to Vanguard, he described the action of the arsonists as cowardly.

Igboho said:

“When the fire started, they called me and by the time I got there, the arsonists have run away. They are cowards; why can’t they come to where I live, you would have seen evidence because they won’t escape.''

Meanwhile, Alhaji Kirowa Ardo Zuru, president of Miyetti Allah in the southwest, has called for cooperation and harmony between the locals and the cattle rearers in the region.

Speaking during a meeting between the leaders of the group and the southwest governors which was held in Akure, Ondo state's capital on Monday, January 25, Zuru said there is an age-long relationship between the southwest and the Fulani herders.

He noted that it is in the southwest that the herders are making huge profits out of their cattle-rearing business because Yoruba people enjoy partying and ceremonies.
